What happens in a reading?

So just what exactly happens in a reading?

Why do people want their tarot cards read, or tea leaves read? What can they gain or benefit from by having an in depth and insightful reading?

People from all walks of life come to visit us in our Spiritual Hub. We have a phrase that has stuck with us for a long time because it is true - ‘Come in a stranger, return as a friend’. Everyone is welcome in our shop, and we want everyone to feel relaxed and at peace in our space.

However, we are fully aware that coming for a reading can be a bit of a mystery for those entering the shop for the first time. It can be a bit unnerving not knowing what exactly will be said to you, or what will be revealed. Even if anything will be revealed! What will they say?

So just what exactly happens in a reading? Well, you may be pleased (or perhaps disappointed!) to know that there are no levitating tables, possessed readers or objects flying across the shop! Spirit is often around the shop and the readers throughout the day, and yes, we do have moments where we feel spirit run past us, or even through us. There are plenty of occasions where we suddenly feel off balance or a rush of cold air past us, however we are so used to these now that if they didn’t happen, we’d feel strange!

Our purpose when you come into the shop is to cultivate and ensure a kind, caring and safe environment for everyone. So when you book a reading and come to the shop, you are greeted by our wonderful front of house team members, Tamzin and Jacqui, who will guide you to your table and take your order for tea or coffee.

Sat down and soaking in our chilled and calming atmosphere, whilst drinking your tea or coffee, you have a few moments to relax before your reader joins you at your table. We have a range of options available for readings, however, they mostly come into a mixture of three options - tea leaf, tarot card and mediumship.

Tea leaf reading - this is where your reader will interpret what they see in your tea leaves, as well what energy they pick up from you.

Tarot card reading - the reader will read from the spread what the cards say, and again they will interpret what energy they pick up from you.

Mediumship - your reader will connect with spirit to prove to you the existence of the human soul.

Depending on what you've booked, your reader will offer insight, perspective and sometimes messages from spirit, giving you guidance and a chance for reflection. The readers are not there to tell you what to do with your life, or what decisions to make, they interpret your energy, the tea leaves, the tarot cards and what messages spirit gives them.

Often, people feel emotional in their readings, which is totally normal! We love a good greet (cry) in the shop!

All our readings are done on the shop floor, rather than in an intense private atmosphere, it really does feel like you’re sitting in someone’s home. The reason we do this is so that people feel genuinely relaxed and we know that when people feel relaxed they are much more receptive to spiritual guidance. It also helps when you are having your reading with others because they sometimes they know you better than you know yourself, and it can be hard to see what is being said to you.
