Have you ever felt a passion for something so strongly that it takes over every single part of your daily thinking? It dominates your thoughts, you see it so clearly in your mind that you start to fantasise and feel what it’s like to be doing the thing you’re thinking about?
Let’s rewind 7 years.
It’s my last day in my old business and I’m absolutely sure I’m making the right decision. Everyone around me is saying “Steven, what the hell are you doing? You’ve worked so hard to create this amazing space.” Something deep within me was pushing me forward and although it was a difficult transition it was absolutely the right thing for me at the time. I always think when you know something is done you should walk away, for your own sanity. And because when it’s done and you’ve done everything you can to change it, there’s nothing left for you there.
Weeks after I left I was working in my new role as a manager for a slimming organisation and I needed a base that wasn’t home to work from. So I rented an office from the local council in what was the old doctor’s surgery. As I applied the paint to the walls in my new space I felt a special energy surrounding me. I was preparing so much more than just an office. Even though I had another job to do I couldn’t help thinking to myself I could do my spiritual work here also and could run meditation classes for people feeling stressed.
A powerful story was unfolding here! One of passion and love for what I was intending to create.
The first incarnation of The Soul Man.
What you are thinking about is already on its way to you and this couldn’t be truer than this moment 7 years ago.
I was painting an office with the powerful intention that this would be the first Soul Man HQ. I kept my head down, really trying not to upset anyone in my old business as I didn’t want them to feel like I was taking away business. I worked so hard in my day job and loved what I was doing with my spiritual work, because there were no expectations or limitations on my work. I provided readings for as low a price as I could because all of my overheads were covered by my other job. I had time and space to create and would spend hours dreaming of a new shop, a small shop that would have a couple of my friends there providing readings and feeling like a wee house, a wee hub.
A year later so many things happened that pointed me towards looking at a shop. The first property I looked at wasn’t right for what I wanted, it needed so much work done to it.
However, on that same day, my friend Dawn and I walked across the road in Broxburn to grab a coffee and as I stood in the queue, I received a message from a friend on Facebook messenger to ask why I was in Broxburn? I went on to tell her that I'd been looking at a shop. She worked for the local estate agent and said “Steven, listen we have a shop to let if you want to have a look?” In the next ten minutes we had a viewing and stepped into the space that straight away felt like home. On the floor of the shop at our feet was a glow in the dark ghost halloween decoration, a single drawstring tea bag and a white feather. Another sign from the universe that this was the right space. This was confirmed to me when I looked at Dawn whose jaw was on the floor with the synchronistic course of events!
You see this wasn’t all unfolding miraculously because of the universe just plonking it all in my lap, it was unfolding as a direct result of the emotion I had felt for the last 18 months, the landscaping I had done in my mind to bring about this single point in time, and the vision I had beyond getting the keys.
Creating the life that you want comes with programming yourself powerfully to see, feel, and imagine your future reality. It really is ridiculously powerful stuff if done correctly. Along the way I cannot tell you how many catastrophic mistakes I have made, but rather than doom myself into the thinking of ‘oh no what have I done?’ I see these mistakes as learning, opportunities to grow and learn in ways that only come from making mistakes.
My story as it unfolded has helped me create what you all see now. The Soul Man Scotland. A place that people come to, to feel like they can disconnect from the busy world, a place that is a physical representation of my heart. What you feel when you walk through the doors is my love for people and my synchronistic relationship with the unseen world who guide me through all of the trails and challenges. That love, shared with our team's love and the love our customers have for the space is what makes The Soul Man so special. That feeling you feel when you walk through the doors, people have been feeling since my first business. That feeling has followed me to every space - working from the heart with truth, kindness, respect, empathy, consideration for others, and understanding. In fact it’s now the values that underpin the company.
I cannot tell you how absolutely proud I am of The Soul Man and everything it represents and I am so excited to see what’s coming as I’m dreaming it as I write these words.
I will be holding a CREATE workshop here at the shop on the 25th of June 2023 to inspire you to use the law of action and attraction to create the life/ business you want.
